Manually Configuring AutoCAD

When Design Master is installed in AutoCAD, it makes the following changes:

1. A new profile is created. This is done because it is necessary to have separate profiles for DM HVAC and DM Electrical.
2. A desktop icon pointing to the new profile is created. This makes opening AutoCAD with the proper profile easy. To do this manually, copy your current AutoCAD desktop icon. Right-click it and select Properties. Added /p "ProfileName" to the end of the target, replacing ProfileName with the actual name of the profile you created. When AutoCAD is started, the profile listed will be the one that is current.
3. A Design Master support path is set in the new profile. The support path should be the location where the Design Master files are installed. This is done so that AutoCAD can find all of the necessary Design Master files. It is important that the support path only one of the HVAC or Electrical paths. If it includes both, the programs will conflict with each other.
4. The appropriate menu files are loaded into the profile. The specific menus that are loaded depend upon the version of AutoCAD you are running.
   • AutoCAD 2000, 2000i, 2002: For HVAC, dm_hvac.mns and dm_bldg.mns are loaded. For electrical, dm_elec.mns is loaded.
   • AutoCAD 2004, 2005: For HVAC, dm_hvac2004.mns and dm_bldg2004.mns are loaded. For electrical, dm_elec2004.mns is loaded.
   • AutoCAD 2006: For HVAC, dm_hvac2006.cui and dm_bldg2006.cui are loaded. For electrical, dm_elec2006.cui is loaded. Unlike the other menu files, the CUI files are not stored in the based Design Master folder. Instead, they are stored in a sub folder called CUI. It is important that the CUI folder not be added to the AutoCAD support path. If it is, AutoCAD might unexpectedly unload your CUI files.
5. The pulldown menus are added to the menu bar. In AutoCAD 2005 and earlier, this is done using the MENULOAD command. In AutoCAD 2006, this is done using the new workspaces feature.
